    What is Timber?

It is wood in the form of boards, logs (either planed or unplaned), as well as battens, beams, strips, and edge boards.

What wood is suitable for fencing?

Softwood (pine, spruce, larch, Douglas fir, etc.) is most commonly used due to its lower cost. However, it is well-known that hardwood (oak) is the most durable among our native species. A fence made of oak wood can last for decades even without treatment.

What boards are suitable for a gate?

Spruce boards are most commonly used for gates because they are more durable than pine boards. However, softwood is primarily used due to its lower cost. If you want to build a gate with boards that will last for several decades, oak boards are definitely suitable. They are more expensive than spruce, but their durability can reach several decades even in unfavorable conditions.

How much does it cost to process a cubic meter of wood?

The cost depends on the following factors: the species of wood, the thickness to which the wood is to be cut, and the quantity of wood in the specific order.

How much timber can be obtained from wood?

Depending on the thickness of the wood, the yield is estimated to be between 40% and 70% of roundwood.

How much does a cubic meter of dry and wet wood weigh?

The weight of wood, or specific gravity (density), depends on the species of wood and its moisture content. The weight of wet wood ranges from 700 kg/m³ to 1,000 kg/m³, while the weight of dry wood ranges from 400 kg/m³ to 900 kg/m³.

How to identify the type of wood?

By its color, brightness, grain pattern, and distinctive characteristics of the specific species (e.g., the luster in oak).

How much does a cubic meter of oak wood cost?

The price depends on the grade of timber and often on its thickness as well. It can range from 900 PLN/m³ to 4,000 PLN/m³.

    How to identify oak wood?

Oak wood has a slightly light coloration (ranging from light yellow to mustard to light brown). This species is easiest to identify by its bark, which is characterized by its light color and the distinctive luster that appears on it.

    Where to buy oak boards?

It is best to purchase oak boards from a reputable supplier with many years of experience. A good idea is to buy oak timber from a sawmill where it is processed on-site. We do not recommend purchasing from companies that trade in timber due to significant differences in the quality of the offered batches. Often, companies that deal in timber but do not produce it themselves source their products from various sawmills, where price is the key criterion rather than the quality of the timber. Frequently, sawmills that process lower-quality timber supply it to companies that specialize in trading this product.

How much does a cubic meter of oak wood weigh?

The weight of dry oak wood is approximately 960 kg.

What glue is suitable for oak boards?

Experienced carpentry companies use Synthos and Rakoll adhesives. However, there are many other glues from different manufacturers that will equally perform their task well.
